EchoTest biography Founded in Philadelphia, USA in 2014. ECHOTEST is an eclectic prog band based in Philadelphia, PA formed by Julie SLICK, the former bassist of the Adrian BELEW Power Trio. The band, formed of Julie SLICK and Marco MACHERA on bass and Alessandro INOLTI on drums, blends a unique sound by leveraging the timbre of dual basses. The band is an extension of a previously fortuitous history of musical collaboration between SLICK and MACHERA. The band's first album, le fil rouge, was released in 2015
Ever since Julie Slick teased the album back in October, we’ve been patiently waiting for the new EchoTest album. Now we’re basking in the goodness that the band calls From Two Balconies.
EchoTest: From Two Balconies by Geno Thackara, published on March 21, 2017. When they adopted the band name EchoTest with Le Fil Rouge (self-produced, 2015), the mix included more guests and vocals (and guest vocals). The indirect influence of old-school prog comes through in spots; the words have a vague dramatic story theme and the Peter Gabriel-ish headdresses on those cover figures might not.

ECHOTEST – From Two Balconies. Even though Julie Slick is no Shakespearean Juliet and Marco Machera isn’t Mercutio, there’s enough emotional tumult about their collaboration – and enough delicious sugarcoating of it on their band’s third outing. That’s how genuine lyricism is born where technique blitz could have been, to present the pair’s progressive push in a slightly otherworldly light, shining ever brightly in The Mystical Connected Us that’s as boldly enigmatic as it is transparent in both semantic and aural terms
