Ruth Slenczynska applied and was accepted to the University of California where she met fellow student George Born. The two eloped after a short engagement in 1944 and remained married until 1953 when the marriage ended in divorce. In 1954 she resumed her concert career and established herself as a pianist of impeccable technique and considerable musical insight. In 1964 she accepted a full time position at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville as Artist- in-Residence, a title she retained until 1987. She married in 1967 to Dr. James Kerr, a professor of political science at SIUE
Ruth Slenczynska (born January 15, 1925) is an American pianist. Slenczynska was born in Sacramento, California. Her father, Joseph Slenczynski, was a violinist. Pushed by her father and starting at age three, Slenczynska was forced to practice the piano relentlessly. When she was four, she began her piano studies in Europe, later studying with Artur Schnabel, Egon Petri, Alfred Cortot, Josef Hofmann, and Sergei Rachmaninoff
American pianist Ruth Slenczynska (born 1925) recalls in an 1963 interview her meetings with Sergei Rachmaninoff and plays two preludes. She is one of the the last living eyewitnesses to Sergei Rachmaninoff's musical practice. The Masterclass is open to a limited number of pianists, and it will take place from the 14th to the 17th of March 2019 with final concert for the participants on Saturday 16th of March 2019 at 2. 0. ff-march. nd apply within February 20th, 2019.

Slenczynska was born in Sacramento, California. When she was four, she began her piano studies in Europe, later studying with Artur Schnabel, Egon Petri, Alfred Cortot, Josef Hofmann, and Sergei Rachmaninoff. She played her debut in Berlin at age six and made her debut in Paris with a full orchestra at seven years of age. Slenczynska was accepted to the University of California, Berkeley, and while there, she met fellow student George Born.
