George Strait continues to bear the title of King of Country Music with the announcement of an official release date for his new album, Honky Tonk Time Machine. I'm really excited to have some new music coming out. It's been about two years since I’ve released a record. It was great writing with Bubba and Dean again and creating such a beautiful song with Bubba and Jeff Hyde," Strait reflects in a press release. Also, it was a very special thing for me to be able to write and sing one with the legend Willie Nelson. I hope everyone enjoys listening to Honky Tonk Time Machine as much as I enjoyed making i. Fans will get their hands on new music sooner rather than later, as the album is due out on March 29.

George Strait will release his 30th studio album, titled Honky Tonk Time Machine, on March 29th. Its arrival ends an uncommonly long gap in output for the famously consistent Country Music Hall of Fame member, whose previous full-length album Cold Beer Conversation came out in 2015. To coincide with the album announcement, Strait has released the new song God and Country Music, penned by Luke Laird, Barry Dean and Lori McKenna and featuring an appearance by Strait’s grandson Harvey.

The album cover for Strait's Honky Tonk Time Machine can be seen above. It features a photo of the Broken Spoke, a famous Austin, Texas, honky-tonk at which Strait performed early in his career. Strait co-produced Honky Tonk Time Machine with Chuck Ainlay. Honky Tonk Time Machine contains 13 songs: 12 originals, plus a cover of Johnny Paycheck's "Old Violin. Songwriters featured on the project include Lori McKenna, Dean Dillon and Strait's son Bubba; Strait's grandson Harvey and Willie Nelson are both special guests on the album as well. I’m really excited to have some new music coming out. The tune name-drops famous country songs and artists to make the point that both God and country music "never change. You find 'em when you need 'em," Strait sings in "God and Country Music. Come hell or high water, there's two things still worth savin', God and country music.

Honky Tonkin' All The Time. It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels.

It’s three and a half years since the Texan charmer last worked his subtle magic on a new collection of songs when Cold Beer Conversation became merely his 26th №1 country album. This from a man who collects telephone-number statistics about his stellar achievements, and famously has 60 - that’s six-oh - №1 singles to his name in all chart configurations. But Honky Tonk Time Machine is significant in hosting a great deal of Strait’s own songwriting, on eight of the 13 inclusions, all with his son George, Jr (aka Bubba), and longtime confidant Dean Dillon. A new Strait classic. There’s not the slightest dilution in quality control here, the bar set as high as ever for songs that are just right for that rich baritone.
