When Timm Brockmann and Franz Bargmann were ready to record the "Licht" album, they turned to Tiger Lillies singer Martyn Jacques, who set them up in his studio. The album documents an intense journey of exploration into sound, with improvisation as its compass. Stylistic barriers pale into insignificance for Brockmann // Bargmann. Occasionally an open room microphone draws the listener right into the recording studio.

Franz Xaver Bergman (or Franz Xaver Bergmann) (1861–1936) was the owner of a Viennese foundry who produced numerous patinated and cold-painted bronze Oriental, erotic and animal figures, the latter often humanized or whimsical, humorous objects d'art. Bergmann was noted for his detailed and colorful work. He signed with either a letter 'B' in an urn-shaped cartouche or 'Nam Greb' – 'Bergman' in reverse. These marks were used to disguise his identity on erotic works.

Somewhat recalling Fripp and Eno’s spontaneous mid-70s live ejaculations, guitarist Franz Bargmann and keyboardist Timm Brockmann (founder members of Berlin trio Camera) decided to mate their guitars, pianos and analogue synths with no preproduction and see what happened. The liaison paid off as Bargmann (currently with Michael Rother’s live band) strikes up guitar reveries that evoke Frippatronics and Cluster, yet also veer into the deeply textured reveries pioneered by New York’s iconoclastic Loren Connors, all set against Brockmann’s spectral dream colours.
