Even I had reservations about a fourth Stooges album, however, but not so much for the fact that it threatened to tarnish a much-polished legend; in fact, I applaud the group for resisting the lure of the KISS route and actually becoming a living, creative band. But the thought of four old dudes reunited for the first time in thirty-seven years reliving their youth while the perpetually cool Mike Watt watched on in horror was too much of a possibility. Well, I needn’t have worried on that score- The Weirdness is definitely not a nostalgia record

The one thing that shocks me about this album is that no one appears to react to My Idea of Fun as a legitimate successor to Search and Destroy. Call this album uneven if you want, but the idea that it's a disaster is a critic's need to be different from the fans.
It’s 2007 & most of the original Stooges decide to get together & make a record. 2007 finds the boys nary mellower nor their attitude, or even their aptitude, much better. They pound out 12 tunes without much fanfare like 35 years are nuthin. This is a great record and if Ron’s guitar chops haven’t improved much or Iggy’s vocal delivery is somewhat lackluster, well, it doesn’t really matter. This is the Stooges, dammit. They got in 2 more decent records before most of ‘em checked out and that’s sayin sumpun. Long live The Stooges.
