Pernice Brothers are an indie rock band. Formed by Joe Pernice in 1996 after the breakup of his old band, the Scud Mountain Boys, and including Joe's brother Bob Pernice (hence the 'Pernice Brothers'), the band recorded their first album, Overcome by Happiness, for Sub Pop in 1998

Overcome By Happiness presents a wonderful, soft chamber country. This music could have only happened in the 1990s, in a post genre world. There is gently strummed acoustic guitar, but also soft strings. One track on it was Crestfallen by The Pernice Brothers. It's just about the best album I've heard for ages. Thoughtful and tuneful with a sort of unrequited love theme. This band deserves to be big but of course they won't be.
