The Austin High School Gang fell in love with jazz during the 1920s. As underage kids, they snuck into Black clubs in Chicago to hear Joe Oliver, Louis Armstrong, Bessie Smith, Johnny Dodds and others. This music influenced them for their entire careers. Many of these musicians had played at various times with Eddie Condon, who is not on the disk. However, the tunes and the inspired playing should appeal to any fans of Dixie/Chicago-land jazz. Billy Butterfield, Tyree Glenn, Peanuts Hucko, Milt Hinton, Al Hall and Leonard Gaskin are on the disk.
