When Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash passed, they left behind what John Carter Cash, their son and Johnny Cash: Forever Words co-producer, describes as a "monstrous amassment" of things, including a treasure trove of undiscovered material that includes Johnny Cash's handwritten letters, poems and documents, penned.

Throughout Johnny Cash’s life, there were many songs/lyrics/poems that he chose not to release. With the help of Steve Berkowitz, and all the artists involved, Cash’s son, John Carter assembled a record with sixteen of his father’s writings. Each song is set to the artist’s genre, and it is not limited to Country. Most of the music was recorded at Cash Cabin Studio where most of Johnny’s later years were spent. This album is a tribute to the life and legend of Johnny Cash, a prominent and historical figure in the musical world. Johnny Cash: Forever Words Q&A.

Johnny Cash was a prolific writer, and not just of songs. Some of the icon's unreleased poems and letters will see the light of day thanks to a new album, Johnny Cash: Forever Words. Cash's son, John Carter Cash, and Steve Berkowitz served as producers for the project, talk of which began circulating last year. The group sifted through many of the country legend's handwritten letters, poems and documents penned throughout his lifetime. They then reached out to several artists inspired by the late singer to reinterpret what they found. The album was appropriately recorded at the Cash Cabin Studio in Hendersonville, Tenn. and serves as the musical companion to "Forever Words: The Unknown Poems," a volume of Cash's unpublished writing.

Johnny Cash: Forever Words – a collaborative album featuring Johnny Cash‘s unknown poetry, lyrics and letters – will be released on April 6th via Legacy Recordings. The icon’s words will be set to music and performed by an all-star lineup that includes Chris Cornell, Willie Nelson, Elvis Costello, Rosanne Cash and John Mellencamp, among others

6 release of Johnny Cash: Forever Words, an album based on Forever Words: The Unknown Poems, a collection of poems, letters, and lyrics from the late country music legend Johnny Cash.
