João Gilberto - João Gilberto [Él] mp3 download

Biography by John Dougan. One of the two musical giants behind the bossa nova explosion of the 1960s (with Jobim), a leading Brazilian guitarist, vocalist, and composer.

João Gilberto is a bossa nova album by João Gilberto, originally released in Brazil as a vinyl LP in 1973 and reissued on CD in 1988. João Gilberto released another album named João Gilberto in 1961, as well as several EPs with only his name as title. The minimal instrumentation – just Gilberto's guitar and voice, plus Sonny Carr's very sparse percussion – and the relentless beat give the album a hypnotic feel. The album's sound engineer was famous electronic music pioneer Wendy Carlos

João Voz e Violão" is a bossa nova album by João Gilberto, released in 2000. Recording very little in the 1990s, this album is Gilberto's first studio album since 1991's "João". This album won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best World Music Album.

His 1964 album Getz/Gilberto with the American saxophone player Stan Getz sold millions of copies, won several Grammy awards and popularised bossa nova around the world. It featured the hit single Girl from Ipanema, sung by Astrud Gilberto, to whom Gilberto was then married. It was João Gilberto, the greatest genius of Brazilian music, who was the definitive influence on my music, singer Gal Costa wrote on social media. He will be missed but his legacy is very important to Brazil and to the world. João Gilberto obituary.

João Gilberto Prado Pereira de Oliveira, known as João Gilberto ( Portuguese: ; 10 June 1931 – 6 July 2019), was a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and guitarist, who was a pioneer of the musical genre of bossa nova in the late 1950s. Around the world he was often called "father of bossa nova"; in his native Brazil, he was referred to as "O Mito" ("The Legend"). In 1963, Gilberto collaborated with American jazz musician Stan Getz on the album Getz/Gilberto which was released the following year. Jobim played the piano for the album while Gilberto's then-wife Astrud performed the vocals in English while he sang in Portuguese. Although Astrud Gilberto was only in the recording studio to be with her husband, João Gilberto requested her to sing on several of the tracks as he could not sing in English.
