Margaritaville" is a 1977 song by American popular music singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett from the album Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes. This song was written about a drink Buffett discovered at Lung's Cocina del Sur restaurant on Anderson Lane in Austin, Texas, and the first huge surge of tourists who descended on Key West, Florida around that time. He wrote most of the song that night at a friend's house in Austin, and finished it while spending time in Key West.

The album is notable for several newly recorded and updated versions of songs considered as classics in his repertoire. Volcano is the ninth studio album by American popular music singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett and is his 11th overall. It was released in August 1979 as MCA5102 and was his first release on that label after its absorption of ABC Dunhill. The album and its song are named for the dormant Soufrière Hills volcano on the island of Montserrat in the British West Indies where Buffett recorded the album in May 1979 at AIR Studios. Additional recording was done at Quadrafonic Studios in Nashville Tennessee and Sunset Sound Studios in Los Angeles, the album is dedicated to Buffetts wife and his daughter,.

I know he has released new material with Hoot (the movie) but if you like his original stuff the best, or all of his music, I would highly recommend this album. Coincidentally, someone else must agree with me because I loaned it to a friend and someone "stole" it. Fortunately, I have it in my library.

Buffet's muse sailed out to sea about 30 years ago but he still makes a tidy sum by repackaging ancient material to his faithful Parrotheads. This album is like last Christmas's fruitcake that just won't go away and can't be regifted because everyone else has one just like it.
