The Nighthawks are an American blues and roots music band, based in Washington, . As of 2018, The Nighthawks are Mark Wenner (vocals and harmonica), Paul Bell (lead guitar), Johnny Castle (bass guitar), and Mark Stutso (drums). Nighthawks at the Diner is the first live album by Tom Waits and his third overall. It was released on Asylum Records in October 1975. It was recorded live in the Los Angeles Record Plant studio, in front of a small invited audience. The album peaked at 164 on the Billboard 200, the highest place Waits had held at the time, and is currently certified silver by the BPI. It has received critical acclaim for its successful mood-setting, capturing of the jazz-club atmosphere and characterisation

The Nighthawks, at their heart, are a bar band in the best sense of the term - they're at their best in a live setting. Live at the Psychedelly captures them at their mid-'70s peak, running through standards ("Jail House Rock," "Hound Dog") and contemporary rockers ("Can't Get Next to You," "Whammer Jammer," "Tripe Face Boogie"), with fire and energy. The CD reissue includes four bonus tracks recorded at the El Mocambo.
