Mike Keneally - The Universe Will Provide mp3 download

Excerpt from "Four Slices of Toast" - REDCAT - Los Angeles, CA - CalArts Orchestra.

In 2002, they commissioned Mike Keneally to come up with a program for guitar and orchestra and the result was The Universe Will Provide, a dazzling tour de force that finally delivers the goods. The first thing you have to understand is that this is not your average orchestra. This orchestra can play anything from jazz to classical and they can rock as hard as many rock bands. Keneally fans will be pleased, because this is a Mike Keneally album through and through, despite the new surroundings. This is classical music to be sure, but it's likely to grab the attention of any open-minded listener, even from a rock background. This album should also open the eyes of some of the classical crowd to a host of new possibilities for orchestra composition. The fact that this music was not 'dumbed down' for the rock crowd is a big part of what makes it so successful.

In July 2012, Keneally released Wing Beat Fantastic: Songs written by Mike Keneally & Andy Partridge, a collaborative album consisting primarily of songs co-written with XTC's Andy Partridge during two writing sessions in 2006 & 2008, and of whose band and work Keneally has been a longtime fan (there is a small section of XTC's "Mayor of Simpleton" in the song "Day. of the Cow 2" from his 1992 debut solo album ha. The Universe Will Provide (2004). Parallel Universe (2004). Vai Piano Reductions Vol. 1, Performed by Mike Keneally (2004). Guitar Therapy Live (2005).

Featuring Mike Keneally & Beer For Dolphins, Devin Townsend, Travis Larson Band, OHM, Larry Mitchell, and a show-ending jam featuring Robert Martin, Andy Timmons, Andy West, Per Nilsson, Jen Majura, Kyle Hughes and more! The venue, M3 Live Theater at 2232 South Harbor Blvd in Anaheim, is a 10-15 minute walk from the convention center where the NAMM convention is happening, but check it out: NAMM credentials are not requred to attend X-Jamm! Civilians of all stripes are warmly welcomed! . You’ll hear the results in March 2019 when the album is released, at which time I’ll get more into it, but for now I simply express my gratitude at being a part of this project: I’m freaking grateful! (And I’ll briefly add: Devin astonishes me. Completely.

However, The Universe Will Provide is the ultimate Mike Keneally album. This is the album he has been working toward for his career, and though he's never released anything that could be considered weak (at least from what little music I've heard from him and what I've read about his discography), but this is perfection. I cannot recommend this album enough to any fan of progressive rock, fusion, classical music (yes, it's not your standard classical, but it comes closer than pretty much any other rocker), Frank Zappa, or really any fan of music in general. So needless to say I wasn't prepared for what I was about to hear when I started to spin this one. "The Universe Will Provide" is Mike on guitars and electric piano playing with the METROPOLE ORCHESTRA.

Can't add much more to the pro review, but I can summarize it - this is an exceedingly overlooked modern rock/orchestra hybrid that won't leave adventurous listeners unsatisfied. All modern prog rock fans should look this up. Not a full five star in my collection with all eras and genres taken into consideration, but definitely a contemporary prog classic and Keneally's most accomplished work. I mean, this site lists TWO DAYS for the recording dates. Throwback
