The Fields is the third album by American jazz saxophonist Glenn Spearman Double Trio, which was recorded in 1994 and released on the Italian Black Saint label. Glenn Spearman (February 14, 1947 – October 8, 1998) was an American jazz tenor saxophonist. He was associated with free jazz and experimental music. Spearman was active in Oakland, California, in the late 1960s but moved to Paris in 1972 and founded the band Emergency with bassist Bob Reid. This group recorded two albums, performed on radio and television in France, and appeared at the festival in Avignon

Glenn Spearman played tenor sax and came of age musically in the experimental jazz scene of the 1960s and 1970s. He was well known for his energetic style of playing as well as for his enthusiastic love of teaching. He inspired artists across the country and throughout Europe, and his music was widely hailed in the jazz community for its ability to express emotional truths.
