From the legendary sludge acts, like EyeHateGod and Crowbar, to heavy rockers Down and all the way to more holistic approaches of Acid Bath, the scene has a distinct sound that makes it so enticing. Thou come from Baton Rouge and through their releases they have become part of this lineage, offering some crushingly heavy music. Starting of in 2005 the band begun to produce its own brew of drone/doom/sludge music, filled with overwhelming distortion and slow, processional pacing. It’s called Transcanadian Anger, and it’s the best Dopethrone album to date.

The CVLT Nation Bizarre. The production on their album Adversarial Light is impeccable, and milks the most anguish out of their performance as possible. The initial slap of this band is powerful, but can they keep you in this mental state for the duration of the album, or do we just go back to color-by-numbers metal? Vaee Solis make equal parts sludge and doom. The have the disdain for melody that a band like Eyehategod possesses, but less of the punk attitude and a heavier emotional outpouring. They use some of tricks from the ultimate book of doom metal, but molest them with their malicious intentions.

As part of their Cvlt Nation Sessions cover album series, the great guys at Cvlt Nation have just put out this brilliant reworking of Black Flag’s 1984 album My War, with a line up of sludge bands including Hellkeeper, No Funeral, Skincarver, 16 and Devoidov putting a fucked up, sludgy spin on an already fucked up, sludgy album. Think of this as My War to the power of ten, maths fans. Have a listen below then download it for free here or here. Here’s the original album, to compare: Posted on March 13th 2018, 11:27am.

We all like it-Rock and Roll We all want it-On your show Play it loud, don't play it low Blow your speakers with Rock and Roll. We all like it-Rock and Roll We want it We all want it-on your show Play it loud, don't play it low Blow your speakers with Rock and Roll. We got lots of stations Around the nation And the stuff they're playing It just ain't worth my saying.
