The James Bond franchise is known for its great music, and I have selected some of the Best over the past 50 years. Actually, I really like them all, but I had to leave a few out to remain within an hour run time.

James Bond is the title of various compilation albums of music used in the James Bond films made by Eon Productions up to that time. The single disc compilation was later updated four times in 1999, 2002, 2008, and 2012

The compilation The Best of James Bond was initially released for the 30th anniversary of the film franchise in 1992, and featured many of the songs that later pressings contained. As this compilation was a few years before GoldenEye was released, it did not contain the track. The initial release was a two disc set. The compilation was re-released in 1993 as a one disc set, once again being released as a 30th anniversary collection. In 1999 the compilation was updated and re-released to strong sales

For the James Bond enthusiast spirit in many of us I suppose it is still better than nothing at all for the 50th Anniversary. The Laser Beam" from GOLDFINGER, "Switching The Body" from THUNDERBALL, "Snow Job" from A VIEW TO A KILL and "Vesper" from CASINO ROYALE are excellent cuts. However, this collection remains a curiosity piece and perfunctory at best. The album is only missing the theme songs from the two newest Bond films: Skyfall and Spectre, which can be easily purchased individually. I would highly recommend this album for any die hard Bond fans out there.

The James Bond film series from Eon Productions has had numerous signature tracks over the years, many of which are now considered classic pieces of film music. The best known of these pieces of music is the ubiquitous James Bond Theme. Other instrumental pieces, such as the 007 Theme or On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, and various songs, such as Shirley Bassey’s Goldfinger, Paul McCartney’s Live and Let Die or Carly Simon’s Nobody Does It Better, Sheena Easton’s For Your Eyes Only and Duran Duran’s A View to a Kill have also become identified with the series.

Its the James Bond theme. The orchestral arragenment and performance has a dangerous, edgy, 7th-chord-y feel to it and some nice semi-tonal 'surf-guitar' riffage going on. It has become a leitmotif through the series, and is instantly recognizable. A classic piece of music, regardless of its place in cinema. In the Dr No film, the title theme song is used a lot more than we are used to. It is almost like Bond's personal theme music in the film, playing almost every time he appears
