Goodbye Blue Sky is the seventh and final studio album by Godley & Creme. Released in 1988, the album generated two singles, "Little Piece of Heaven" and "10,000 Angels" as well as videos for those two singles. The album featured backup vocals by three future members of 1990s dance band Londonbeat. The album is notable through its use of harmonicas, which are used substantially on most tracks. In a 1988 interview with Pulse! magazine, they said: All songs composed by Kevin Godley and Lol Creme.
Goodbye blue sky Goodbye blue sky Goodbye Goodbye. About Goodbye Blue Sky. The song is a memory from Pink’s childhood, during the bombings of World War II. His child’s mind couldn’t understand why he had to stay indoors when the sun was out, with no real conception of the danger of the bombings. Since we compiled the album I haven’t really clearly tried to think my way through it, but I know that this area is very confusing. I think the best way to describe it is as a recap if you like of side one. And you could look upon Goodbye Blue Sky as a recap of side one. So, yes, it’s remembering one’s childhood and then getting ready to set off into the rest of one’s life. Roger Waters, Radio 1. "Goodbye Blue Sky" Track Info. Written By Roger Waters. Recorded At. Goodbye Blue Sky, a deceptively tranquil track, goes back to the original Wall demo. Other than the vocals, it sounded pretty much as it does on the album. Although it’s not listed in any of the published track listings of the demo, according to the excerpts of Roger’s original demo tape included on The Wall: Immersion, Goodbye Blue Sky was sequenced in the middle of what would become Side 2, somewhere around Don’t Leave Me Now. By the band’s first production demo of January 9, 1979, it was moved up much earlier in the narrative to the fourth song on Side 1, sequenced between Thin Ice and Teacher, Teacher.
Goodbye Blue Sky. Look, mommy. On the original vinyl, Goodbye Blue Sky was the first song on side two of disc one of the double album. In an interview around the album’s release, Waters described the song as being a recap of the first side of album one, summing up Pink’s life to that point. As Waters says, in it’s most simplistic form it’s remembering one’s childhood and then getting ready to set off into the rest of one’s life. In this position, the song acts as a fitting transition between the narrator’s adolescent questioning of Mother and his more world-weary adult self of Empty Spaces.
