Between 1925-1929 McEnelly’s orchestra waxed 21 fabulous dance sides for Victor, however economy crisis during the Great Depression and McEnelly’s failing health forced him to retire. In his later years, he worked as a violin teacher and piano tuner until his death in 1958. McEnelly was skilled on many instruments and played violin in his orchestra.

31 RUB. Edwin J. McEnelly organized his great New England and Victor Recording Orchestra in 1907 in Milford, Mass.

This collection has all 21 of his orchestra's recordings from between 1925 and 1929, only two of which were ever reissued, and that was during the LP era. Overall, the jazz content is low (other than on "Spanish Shawl"), although the ensembles and the few brief solos are influenced by jazz. The music includes foxtrots, a few waltzes, some guest vocals, clean ensembles, and a lightly swinging beat.

TITLE added to MP3 cart. Exclusive Prime pricing. This CD represents the complete Victor recordings of the New England-based, McEnelly's orchestra. The rendition-style is "hot dance" on the up-tempo tunes, and "sweet-with-rhythm" on the slower sides (which are mainly waltzes). The orchestrations are somewhat complex and employ the artifice of a d rhythm section to drive the performances.
