Mark "Moogy" Klingman - Old Times, Good Times: A Musical History, Pt. 1 mp3 download

Style:MLA Chicago APA. "Old Times, Good Times: A Musical History, Pt. 1 Album.

Although versions of "(You Got to Have) Friends" are on both Klingman's Old Tmes, Good Times: A Musical History, Part 1 and Buzzy Linhart's The Buzzy/Moogy Sessions, 1983-1994, this naïve early take duet with Buzzy is just great, as is the duet with Rundgren on "Crying in the Sunshine. There are two versions of "Kindness," a superb gospel chorus on "The Man at Ease," and undeniable vocal presence on songs like "I Can Love" and "Making the Rounds at Midnight.

Mark "Moogy" Klingman (September 7, 1950 – November 15, 2011) was an American musician and songwriter. He was a founding member of Todd Rundgren's band Utopia, and later became a solo recording artist, bandleader and songwriter

Her son, Mark Moogy Klingman, produced Bette Midler's third album, Songs for the New Depression; co-wrote with Buzzy Linhart the song that could be considered her theme, (You Got to Have) Friends; co-founded Utopia with Todd Rundgren; and was a legendary figure in the music industry, having written, produced, performed, and organized for over four decades.

Klingman had played with Rundgren as early as his first album Runt; both Klingman and Siegler had played on tracks on Side 4 of Rundgren's third album Something/Anything, and together with Schuckett they had also played on Rundgren's fourth album A Wizard, A True Star. Meanwhile, Rundgren had played on Labat's solo album M. Frog. The debut album itself contained only four tracks and ran for almost sixty minutes total, opening with "Utopia Theme" - recorded live in concert - and closing with the extended concept piece "The Ikon", which ran more than thirty minutes and took up all of side two of the album. Mark "Moogy" Klingman - keyboards. Ralph Schuckett - keyboards. John Siegler - bass & cello.

Other than Rundgren, his longest musical association may have been with Bette Midler, whom he served as band leader and who adopted for her signature song "(You Gotta Have) Friends", composed by Klingman and William "Buzzy" Linhart. Moogy Klingman, On Fighting Cancer with Music. Mark Moogy Klingman has been a part of rock ’n’ roll history for more than four decades. Klingman has never stopped playing all over New York City, but a recent diagnosis of an aggressive form of cancer has given him a new outlook on life and a supercharge of energy. In February, the original lineup of Utopia reunited for two sold-out shows at the Highline Ballroom in New York to raise funds for his treatments. Klingman was overwhelmed with emotion, playing with musicians he had not seen in 30 years. I have a band called the Peacenicks that plays a few times a month, and now I’ll be doing some shows with the Utopia Brothers, which includes John Seigler and Kevin Ellman. I have to play a lot because I don’t know how long I have left in this world. Ultimately, if I can hang around for a few more years it would be amazing.
