Something doesn’t sound right.

For NehruvianDOOM, impressed mentor (MF Doom) meets talented newcomer with a jones for the old boom-bap (Bishop Nehru) and a project is born, although maybe not fully launched. Sound of the Son is too short to consider fleshed-out as it runs eight tracks without the trippy intro, and oddly enough, when young wordsmith Nehru gets in reflective story mode ("So Alone," "Coming for You"), producer Doom cuts the power before these tracks cross the three-minute mark.

NehruvianDOOM Album Art (Ft. Bishop Nehru & MF DOOM) Lyrics. About NehruvianDOOM. NehruvianDOOM is the collaborative studio album by MF DOOM and Bishop Nehru. The album features sole production by DOOM and was released on October 7, 2014. The album is often subtitled as Sound of the Son. Speaking of the project via XXL, DOOM said: As like a compilation of sounds, all of them hold they own weight but as one whole thing, a piece, it’s going to be a very informative piece

NehruvianDoom - Bishop nehru and MF doom (Full Album). NehruvianDOOM - Darkness.

Here are two bars straight out of junior high science class. Feldspar covers 60% of the earth, and Nehru considers himself as a diamond in the rough. He’s spitting knowledge that a lot of people don’t understand, even if it’s as simple as talking about rocks. Nehru makes the notion clear throughout the album that people will know his name, it just takes time to mold and shape into an artist, just like diamonds. Although he may not be recognized by the masses just yet, he’s confident that that day will come (as is DOOM).

It’s tough to look at this as an MF Doom & Bishop Nehru collaboration, when it seems more like a Bishop Nehru album that wasn’t too great, and then MF Doom worked his magic and made it decent. Nehru has some good flow and lyrical control, but he’s young, 18, and has some learning to do still before he can truly captivate a listening audience and put out something really impressive, something you have to shush your friends for when it comes on cause you have to hear it. And he’s definitely in a great position to do so, working with MF Doom, opening for Wu-Tang on tour last year. He’s got the connections. The 2nd half is playback value. I’m not one to argue that every song needs a hook, cause it doesn’t, but if you’re going to have a hook, it better be worth it. Looking at a track of this record like “Great Things,” while I think that sing-speaking like early Jay-Z, Das Racist, or Kanye off of “Last Call” can work really well, it just seems weak and forced a bit on this record. The 2nd thing about the record, the thing about working with MF Doom, he’s gonna show you up if you let him rap, because you just can’t be better than MF Doom on an MF Doom beat. If this album says anything, it’s that Nehru has a potential bright future ahead of him, and this is a pretty good way to set it off. It might not have brought the wow factor, but he’s a name people have heard of now.
