Di Stefano was known for his thrilling Italianate voice and his successful collaborations with soprano Maria Callas. The retired tenor had been brutally attacked in 2004, and never recovered. Tenor Giuseppe Di Stefano's greatest successes were with his long-time opera partner, Maria Callas. The pair performed a farewell concert at London's Royal Festival Hall in 1973. Maria Callas is at the top of her game, and still very much in her vocal prime. Her dramatic approach to "Tosca" is arguably even better captured in the live recordings from Covent Garden a decade later, but at that point her voice had lost some of its bloom; depending on your tastes, this may be the better example of her doing the role.
