Track 2 Part Two from Amalgamation (1971) by Masahiko Satoh and the Soundbreakers.

Masahiko Satoh & Soundbreakers. Amalgamation ‎(CD, Album, Ltd, Num, RE, Unofficial). Phoenix Records (2). ASHCD3040. Amalgamation 恍惚の昭和元禄 ‎(CD, Album, RE). P-Vine Records, Alfa.

A highlight of the Japanese jazz avant-garde, Amalgamation was the latest in a series of experimental moves by pianist Masahiko Satoh, and a peak of the experimental Japanese jazz records that followed their love of Miles Davis' late-'60s experiments with producer Teo Macero. In the previous years, following his involvement with the infamous never-staged Japanese production of Hair, Satoh had his band jam along with reel-to-reel recordings composed for percussion prodigy Stomu Yamashta, and served on a session with guitar hero Kimio Mizutani.

Everyone says that Masahiko SATOH the frontman of The SOUNDBREAKERS has been very enthusiastic for "freely improvised music", and his career tells this fact, his attitude for music. 1971 in Japan reminds me lots of three-minute pop (kayo-kyoku), folk, traditional pop ('enka' in Japanese) ones, but Masahiko, who released such a long improvised suite in those days, can be called as a terrifically eccentric epochmaking creator methinks.

LP (12" album, 33 rpm). MASAHIKO SATOH & SOUNDBREAKERS (Artist) Format: Vinyl.

This album contains two long compositions, each broken into a few small pieces. The first composition is seriously influenced by Miles' early fusion and combines electronic space jazz with heavy guitar licks from Japanese guitar hero Kimio Mizutani. Satoh uses three MiniMoogs and Roland ring modulators, former Cannonball Adderley drummer Louis Hayes builds a thunder-like frame.
