Album · 2002 · 12 Songs. Harmonica Party - Vintage Mark Hummel. Rolling Fork Revisited.

Blue Jimmy (3:35) 12. Stockholm Train (8:35). Harmonica player, songwriter, and singer Mark Hummel is a practitioner of the West Coast blues style, which typically includes elements of jazz and swing. A seasoned bandleader, Hummel achieved wider recognition through nearly constant touring. Hummel was born in New Haven, Connecticut but raised in Los Angeles, California. He became fascinated with the blues-rock of Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Big Brother and the Holding Company, and the Rolling Stones

A great album by a harp virtuoso sums this one up. Mark Hummel is part of that West Coast batch of guys who just have their pulse on the jump-blues and shuffles of another era. He’s a fabulous player; check out the first cut, Beepin’ On Me, a showcase for his big sound and killer chops. Actually, you can pretty much say that for every cut on the record. The jazzy Blue Jimmy lets him show what he knows. Same with Stockholm Train and a hidden track at the end that lets him fly on harp

Golden State - Lone Star carries the torch for Traditional Electric Blues with Style and Class. -Blues Music Magazine. Disc: 1. 1. Midnight Hour Blues. Disappointing from a drummer's perspective. The album is ok, but whomver decided to have no drum endings, . not the way Earl Palmer ends many of the New Orleans r&b tunes like the ones he recorded with Fats Domino and Little Richard. If you want to hear what I mean, play the 2:30 version of Chicken Shack Boogie by Amos Milburn. This is the 1956 version with Earl Palmer on drums, and many other of the Dave Bartholomew band musicians.
