Resistance is a studio album by Jamaican reggae singer Burning Spear. It was released in 1985 through Heartbeat Records, making it the artist's first release for the label. Recording sessions took place at Tuff Gong Recording Studio in Kingston, horns on "Jah Feeling" and "Mek We Yadd" were recorded at Aquarius Studios Kingston. It was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Recording at the 27th Annual Grammy Awards. All tracks written by Winston Rodney, except track 4 written with Noel Hamil. 3 follows the Burning Spear pattern, stripping most of the vocals but leaving most of the instruments intact, playing far fewer sonic games with the mixes than many dubmasters prefer. Instead, the musical edge is sharpened, letting you get deeper into the rhythm and the structure. It's surprising how well this works, given that reggae is supposed to be so boring when reduced to the essentials - this is not the set to use to prove that point
