The album is a frenzied blur from start to finish, which unfortunately means that while it’s extremely fun, it’s also unvaried. Each song blends into the next with barely a chord change in a spirited nod to punk’s stylings, and the tempo is unchanging, set to as-fast-as-you-can. Is this a bad thing? Not if you just want to shake and break, bash and thrash, and just plain forget being a wallflower. What CoCoComa lacks in diversity on Things Are Not All Right, with the underlying message of social change, it more than makes up for with impassioned delivery

Things Are Not Alright. Goner records has a certain sound to everything on their label. Cococoma are similar to a cousin. That is to say really cute fun to play with but, thankfully is gone before it overstays it's welcome. Everything on this record is built to impact the listener in a fuzzy slightly punkish cuteness. That means everything is short sweet and sung with a nice voice, outside of every once in awhile hearing a count in to the song. All of these things make the most of a very short running time. Noted this kinda of music isn't made better with broad structures or long song lengths.
In 2006 CoCoComa released a fistful of 7" singles and split EPs on a variety of labels, and in 2007 they hooked up with Memphis-based Goner Records to issue their self-titled debut album. In 2008, the future seemed iffy for the band - Fitzpatrick left CoCoComa to move to New York state, and as Lisa discovered she was pregnant, the Roes debated the wisdom of continuing the group. However, as Bill and Lisa stockpiled a batch of new songs, they decided they should make another album, and recruited two new bandmates, Anthony Cozzi on guitar and organ and Tyler Brock on bass.
