No Sun. Out November 16th. The Smashing Pumpkins.

The third studio album by the Smashing Pumpkins was released on October of 1995 as a double-disc. Despite the high price tag in the pre-digital era, the album was soon certified as diamond, an accomplishment made by very few rock bands in the 1990’s. Nobody in the music industry saw it coming; except for Billy Corgan that is, who called this success as being vindicated. For some time, the album held the record for being the best-selling double CD of all time. The album brought in eight Grammy nominations and ranks as one of Rolling Stone’s Greatest Albums of All Time. The famous face of the woman on the album cover comes from Jean-Baptiste Greuze’s The Souvenir, a painting from the 18th century. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness Q&A. What is the album about? The human condition of mortal sorrow.

Drown (The Smashing Pumpkins song). Drown" is a song by American alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins from the soundtrack to the 1992 Cameron Crowe film, Singles. The song debuted during the Gish tour and was written not long after that record was released. The first take of the song was recorded at Waterfront Studios, which belongs to Lenny Kravitz, who was also signed to Virgin Records.

Smashing Pumpkins - with a core lineup of Corgan, second guitarist James Iha, bassist D’arcy Wretzky, and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin - hailed from Chicago and blew up with their second album, 1993’s Siamese Dream, a colossus of snarling guitar-god ambition and bleating sad-goth vulnerability. God bless the crunchy neon-melodrama anthem Today, and its iconic let’s paint an ice-cream truck video. In July, a mostly reunited Smashing Pumpkins will embark on a blockbuster arena nostalgia tour, announced by sad-eyed ladies wearing angel wings and wielding a flamethrower, because that’s how this band rolls. This is thrilling news for long-suffering Corgan apologists who’ve tolerated years of tumultuous side projects (shouts to Zwan) and wan solo albums and iffy Smashing Pumpkins records churned out by whichever musicians Corgan could tolerate (and vice versa) at the time.

Oceania is the eighth studio album by American alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins, released on June 19, 2012 through EMI, Reprise Records and Martha's Music. Produced by Billy Corgan and Bjorn Thorsrud, the album is part of the band's ongoing 44-song box set, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope. As of September 2012, Oceania has sold over 102,000 copies in the US.  . Oceania was the first full-length album recorded with guitarist Jeff Schroeder, and the only album recorded with drummer Mike Byrne and bassist Nicole Fiorentino. The band was supplemented in-studio by an unnamed session keyboardist. Fiorentino had this to say about her role in recording Oceania
