OK, now that we're among friends, let's study this oddball debut album by one Eldridge Skell's The Rude Staircase. There's a lot of pop music in there, from Elvis Presley to the B-52's, but also circus music, avant jazz, weird Americana, nouveau-swing, hillbilly, go-go organ records, and Rock in Opposition, for a partial list.
Written-By, Producer – L. Skell.
Probably the best underground album I've ever heard. This excellent singer-songwriter only has 6 monthly listeners on this site and it feels like I'm the only one in the world (except for some randos on RYM) who knows about this album. Yet, this is an album that has surpassed all expectations I had of it. Touching elements of Gentle Giant's quirky prog, Marillon's pop touch to the genre and Cardiacs'. Or consider a donation?
