Ocean Colour Scene is the eponymous 1992 debut album by the British rock group Ocean Colour Scene. It was released during the early Britpop era with far less critical interest than their highly successful second album Moseley Shoals. Ocean Colour Scene themselves largely ignore this album, feeling that the band and label's conflicting musical views led to a 'watered-down' début which lacked the edge of the band's live popularity

Excellent slice of campy, vocally-driven melodic rock from the unheralded and peculiarly-named late-'90s British outfit. Ocean Colour Scene has continued into the next decade to make relevant music. Vocalist Steve Cradock's distinctive delivery lends itself well to the Mellencamp-like nostalgic yearnings. Highlights are "The Circle", "One For the Road", and the offbeat, power-packed "The Day We Caught the Train". These are tunes that have an odd familiarity to them from the first listen, a nice little mind trick that quality music can possess. Also check out their 2007 set On the Leyline for a worthy encore to Moseley Shoals.
