This live album contains some of the bands greatest hits, including "Stepping Out," "Chant a Psalm," and "Roller Skates. Also, songs which got a lukewarm reception from critics and fans off of State of Emergency and Victims hold up rather well. Even with the slight downsizing in their popularity it is obvious from this album that the band could still put on an energetic live performance. The stunning ten-minute extended version of "Rally Round" is the ultimate proof of this.

Steel Pulse has remained true to themselves and their originality and I respect and admire that. This album is the perfect example of how powerfully energetic, upbeat, and wise this band is. It doesn't hurt that David Hinds is a genius. I highly recommend you purchase this album. Steel Pulse's album of their live performance in Paris is a masterpiece and a very good compilation of their hit songs.

Steel Pulse is a roots reggae musical band, from the Handsworth area of Birmingham, England, which has a large majority of Afro-Caribbean, Indian and other Asian migrants.

lysée Montmartre (French: L'Élysée Montmartre) is a music venue located at 72 Boulevard de Rochechouart, Paris, France. It opened in 1807, burned down in 2011, reopened in 2016, and has a capacity of 1,380 patrons. The nearest métro station is Anvers. In 1992, Steel Pulse released their first live album, Rastafari Centennial - Live in Paris, which was recorded over three nights at the venue. David Bowie's performance, during the Hours Tour, on 14 October 1999, was filmed and recorded, with three songs later appearing on the CD single of "Survive". In 2005, Cradle of Filth recorded their live DVD, Peace Through Superior Firepower at the venue. The performance was filmed on 2 April 2005.

I've always felt Allmusic's three star rating is too low. The production on this album is fantastic, with big bass grooves and an incredibly punchy snare. Steel Pulse perform professionally and energetically, and their skill as a live band is more than evident in the laying down of terrific grooves and subtle shifts in tempo that are done in lockstep. Not to mention, great vocals including some killer harmonizing. That all adds up to a very satisfying listen. I will say that if the album has a real fault, it is that it loses a lot of steam in its second half. Not that the backside of the album is bad, although the less said about a supremely ill-advised foray into rap that marred one of the last tracks the better.More often than not over the years, I'll switch CDs when Chant a Psalm comes on and listen to the first seven tracks only. But those seven tracks are pure gold.
