Natural High is the second album by soul group Bloodstone. It was reissued on CD in 1996 with several bonus tracks. Recording in the summer of 1972 and released in 1973, this album would chart number two on the Soul Album Charts, led by single "Natural High," which charted at number four on the Soul Singles chart and number ten on the Pop chart. I really had high hopes for this book but as I made my way through it I kept getting the odd feeling that I'd read this all before. Then it struck me. I had. Caveat Emptor. Significant portions of this book are directly lifted out of Montague Summers' books "The Vampire: His Kith and Kin" and its follow-up "The Vampire in Europe". Vampire Weekend's third album is a remarkable progression from a band that was already functioning at a high level. The songs are more spontaneous and dynamic and, along with the more lived-in sonics, Modern Vampires finds the group taking a leap forward into emotional directness. Still, Vampire Weekend make a damn good case for wisdom all across Modern Vampires. Yes, this is a more grown-up album. It largely trades in the Africa-inspired giddiness of their first two records for a sound that's distinctly innate and closer to the ear. There's more air in these songs, more spontaneity, more dynamics. The overarching themes- death and a dubious sense of faith- are certainly Serious. But you never feel like you're being preached at while listening to this album
A Vampire is an undead immortal that is inhabited by the soul of the deceased as well as by the spirit of Amel. Vampires are not affected by garlic or crosses, nor can they be killed by wooden stakes through their hearts. They sleep during the day since sun exposure causes them severe pain and, eventually, death. This differs from natural sleep, as they become fully dead, and the dawn often triggers their sleep against their will, forcing them to find shelter.
Vampire Weekend was the result of a carefully drafted sonic manifesto. Koenig told Spin in 2008 that the aesthetic treatise that guided the LP still existed on his laptop, typed in a font that matched the Tintin comic books. Supposedly, the manifesto included such rules as no distortion, no post-punk and no trip-hop. 7. Despite appearances, the album was actually a DIY effort.
