Donald Ray Williams (May 27, 1939 – September 8, 2017) was an American country singer, songwriter, and 2010 inductee to the Country Music Hall of Fame. He began his solo career in 1971, singing popular ballads and amassing 17 number one country hits. His straightforward yet smooth bass-baritone voice, soft tones, and imposing build earned him the nickname: "Gentle Giant" of country music.
His warm voice graced historic venues like London's Royal Albert Hall, and "Don Williams: Into Africa," a concert special filmed in Zimbabwe, was recorded on a tour of Africa in the late 1990s. Williams launched a farewell tour in 2006 that included a stop at Lipscomb University's Allen Arena, but retirement didn't stick. Those were the last studio records of his career. A live album recorded in Ireland was released in 2016. Williams was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2010.

And So It Goes is a 2012 studio album by American country singer Don Williams. It is his first studio album since My Heart to You in 2004.
Don Williams, the Country Music Hall of Fame member whose imposing height and warm, reassuring voice earned him the nickname Gentle Giant, died Friday, September 8th, after a short illness. An internationally popular country star, Williams recorded dozens of hit songs, including Tulsa Time, Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good and It Must Be Love.

The result was the album Don Williams Volume One (1973), which contained one of his most praised tracks, Amanda, described by the music historian Bill Malone as combining the flavour of old-time country music with a middle-of-the-road approach. Two more albums followed before I Wouldn’t Want to Live If You Didn’t Love Me gave Williams his first country No 1 hit single in 1974. As with most of his later hits, he did not compose this himself. Williams was awarded many honours from the country music community. He was also inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2010, but was too ill with bronchitis to attend in person. He retired from live performance in 2016.
