Cloud 9 is the second album by Nine, released on August 6, 1996 through Profile Records. Nine had released his debut album Nine Livez the previous year. The album was an underground hit, reaching No. 90 on the Billboard 200, while also reaching the top 20 on the R&B charts. The album also spawned the crossover hit, "Whutcha Want?", which reached No. 50 on the Billboard Hot 100. After the success on "Whutcha Want?", Profile gave Nine the green light to begin work on his second album.

Cloud Nine is the 11th studio album by English musician George Harrison. The album was recorded and released in 1987 after Harrison had taken a five-year hiatus from his career as a solo artist. The hit single "Got My Mind Set on You" from this album re-established Harrison as a critically acclaimed and commercially significant recording artist. Cloud Nine was Harrison's last solo studio album released during his lifetime.

Cloud 9 (Nine album). Commercially, Cloud 9 failed to sell as many copies as Nine Livez and only reached No. 45 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, not selling enough copies to reach the Billboard 200. Due to Profile Records' financial problems, the album featured virtually no promotion, with the exception of the music videos for "Lyin' King" and "Make or Take".

Cloud Nine is George Harrison’s eleventh studio album, and the last released while he was still alive. It followed Harrison’s five-year hiatus as a solo artist after the failure of his (previous) solo LP, 1982’s halfhearted Gone Troppo caused him to grow disillusioned with the music industry. Harrison sought out Jeff Lynne, best known for his work with 70’s orchestral rock band Electric Light Orchestra, to co-write and produce the album. In January 1987, they laid down the basic tracks for seventeen songs.
