Lou Stein (April 22, 1922 – December 11, 2002) was an American jazz pianist. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Stein's first major gig came in 1942 when he joined Ray McKinley's band. He also played with Glenn Miller when the latter was stateside during World War II. After the war he worked with Charlie Ventura (1946–47) and following this became a session musician.

Paris is the eponymous debut album by the power trio Paris, which was active from 1975 to 1977. It was the only album recorded by the original Paris line up, as drummer Thom Mooney left shortly afterwards. The songs on Paris were all written by guitarist/vocalist Bob Welch and are in a vein similar to Led Zeppelin. The album reached number 103 on the Billboard pop album chart.

Outside of the fact that An American in Paris has many ties with French theatre, in reflection, I have found that this experience is a great example of exploring the differences between seeing shows in the United States and in France. This past summer when I saw An American in Paris, I was interning at a Broadway theatre company and was able to learn about New York theatre as both a professional and an audience member.
