Rico Nasty makes cathartic rap music with a fiery, punk edge. The DMV native started gaining attention in 2016 with candy sweet trap songs inspired by kids TV shows ( iCarly and Hey Arnold! ). But with her 2018 breakout single Smack a Bitch, Rico made a sharp turn into her more edgy Trap Lavigne persona, characterized by an unruly attitude and a raspy voice to match. She leaned into that riotous energy with 2018’s Nasty mixtape and 2019’s Kenny Beats collaboration Anger Management, continuing to harness her raw rage into new flows and gritty bars.

Originating her career from Maryland, Kelly was exposed to rap music at a very young age. Kelly released two mixtapes in 2016:The Rico Story and Sugar Trap. Both tapes gained her notable attention from the media and the general public. In June 2018, Kelly signed to Atlantic Records after releasing her sixth mixtape, Nasty.
