Abandon is the sixteenth studio album by the British hard rock band Deep Purple, released in the Spring of 1998. It was Deep Purple's second album with Steve Morse on guitar and the last album to feature founding member Jon Lord prior to his departure in 2002. The album was followed by a successful 1998/1999 world tour which brought Deep Purple to Australia for the first time in 15 years. Abandon is a harder-rocking album than its predecessor, but there's a number of layers to their rock, as they occasionally stretch into challenging neo-prog territory. In summary, Abandon Ship is better than the majority of 2014’s mainstream EDM albums. House variation rules at the end of the day. Fans of KP, Zomboy, Skrillex and such will likely not appreciate the incorporation of progressive house but will worship Boss Mode & Give It Up. Begin Again, Superstar, and Kaleidoscope are the stand-outs while Give It Up & Red Dawn ought to have stayed in the idea box.
