The problem with Magnificent Glorification of Lucifer is that it sounds the most like it could have been written by another band. Inquisition have an extremely distinct sound, and largely that sound is missing from this album. It's not 100% absent, as I don't think Dagon could write normal-sounding black metal if he sought to, but there are times when the vocals aren't there where it's pretty easy to forget what band you're listening to. And after the knockout one-two punch of the previous albums being exercises in unholy rotting black metal, this one's more like.

There are several things that are wrong with this band and I think those aspects can be applied not only to 'Magnificent Glorification of Lucifer' but, to a good extent, to the other albums of this band (I admit I don’t know their entire discography but I assume they never had a major stylistic change. Il try to be organized and do a list of the more problematic aspects of this album and more generally of this band

An Inquisition album is easily recognized by simple, D-based power-chord riffing, absence of bass (substituted with a guitar pedal in unison), tribal and blast-beat based drumming and frog-like raspy vocals: listening to one of their albums (included this Magnificent Glorification of Lucifer) is like listening to the band’s entire discography. The band have always been considered as the American Immortal, but musically they have always sounded closer to acts like Archgoat, Beherit and other elementary Black/Death Metal bands coming from United States. For fans of such sonorities, they’re an endless land of wonders, but it’s impossible not to notice that their repetitiveness can grow very unnerving at times. Fortunately they’re enough wise to use Drop C tuning and Bathory-like slower and melodic paces (“Of Blood and Darkness We Are Born”), but this is more an exception than a rule.Highlights: “Of Blood and Darkness We Are Born”, “Magnificent Glorification of Lucifer”.
