BEETHOVEN Concerto for Violin and Orchestra - Hilary Hahn, violin - Продолжительность: 49:48 Detroit Symphony Orchestra 3 681 123 . Pekka Kuusisto: Sibeliuksen viulukonsertto d-molli.
Also included in this collection is the incidental music to the play Swanwhite, which Kuusisto conducts without the benefit of violin in hand. This again is not among Sibelius' greatest works, and the orchestra appears to lose some of its vitality and enthusiasm when not following a soloist. Still, it is a decent performance of a piece that might not be heard elsewhere.
Six Humoresques For Violin And Orchestra. 1. Humoresque I In D Minor, Op. 87/1. 2. Humoresque II In D Major, Op.
Violinist Pekka Kuusisto and composer Jean Sibelius seem to be an ideal match. Kuusisto's tonal palate is impressive, especially considering his young age, and the Six Humoresques offer an ideal platform from which to demonstrate

For lovers of Sibelius's famous Violin Concerto, this album offers an ideal opportunity to discover his less-performed works for violin and orchestra, played by celebrated Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto. CD: 1 Tracks: 18 Length: 1:02:10. CD 1. Jean Sibelius Composer 2 Humoresques for Violin and Orchestra, O. 7 Work.
Pekka Kuusisto was born in 1976. He represents a renowned Finnish musical dynasty – his grandfather Taneli Kuusisto, his father Ilkka Kuusisto and his brother Jaakko Kuusisto are acclaimed composers. Pekka Kuusisto began to play the violin at the age of three. His first teacher was Géza Szilvay at the East Helsinki Institute of Music
The Sibelius Violin Concerto is a basic in the repertoire of any violinist of note. and it's beautifully recorded in state-of-the-art sound by the Finnish Ondine engineers! The two suites of incidental music are also beautifully performed in the same lush and expansive manner. You can find recordings by other more famous violinists who show equal command of the emotional range in the score, but no performer I have heard has also nailed the daunting technical demands of this mega-challenging late romantic violin concerto as Pekka Kuusisto has.
For lovers of Sibelius's famous Violin Concerto, this CD offers the ideal opportunity to discover his less-performed works for violin and orchestra, played by the celebrated Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto. Described by The Guardian as "absolutely mesmerising", Pekka Kuusisto is one of the most cutting-edge violinists of his generation who performs with the major orchestras in the world and is acclaimed for his tone, technique, infectious enthusiasm and his imaginative interpretations. His début album, featuring Sibelius's Violin Concerto, earned gold status in Finland and the Music Industries Association Award for Excellence 1996 (ODE 878-2, or coupled with Sibelius's Complete Symphonies, ODE 1075-2Q). An aural delight of excellently spirited Sibelius ) the total effect warrants my recommending this disc for Best of the Year honors. Gary Lemko, Audiophile Audition).
