Wipe Out" is by far the best cut, of course, but the instrumentals, packed with reverbed guitars, honking saxes, and high-end drums aplenty, usually have an admirably sleek power. Two of the vocal surf tunes were co-written by Gary Usher, who also worked with the Beach Boys during this time.

The story of The Surfaris is a prime example of the malicious way in which some young, naive artists were taken to the cleaners by greedy record companies or, to paraphrase an old Jerry Reed tune "the companies got the gold mine, the boys got the shaft.
