Though one of the first Mexican-American rock acts, Mando and gang's importance is sociological rather than musical. Their sole album is fair but generic period R&B/rock, Mando belting out the words with the good-natured bellow of a seasoned bar/lounge entertainer.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers is the debut studio album by American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on August 10, 1984 on EMI America and Enigma Records. The album was produced by Gang of Four guitarist Andy Gill, and is the only album to feature Jack Sherman on guitar. Sherman was in the band as a replacement for founding member Hillel Slovak, who had left the band along with founding drummer Jack Irons before the album was recorded
The Red Hot Chili Peppers merged the sounds and sensibilities of punk, funk and hip-hop to become an iconic and hugely popular group. Their music and lifestyles reflect the Southern California milieu in which they were born. They have been a band given to extremes, from thrashy, funky noise and personal excess to sunnier music and healthier living. They formed in Los Angeles in 1983 as a foursome with Anthony Kiedis, Michael "Flea" Balzary, Hillel Slovak and Jack Irons. The last two left before the recording of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' self-titled 1984 debut and were replaced.
That said, Smith expects the group to be on the road for most of the rest of this year. With Kiedis "on the mend," the Chili Peppers hit the road again on March 29 in Tampa, Fl. before heading to Europe in June, with some . make-up dates in August and in the fall. So a new album certainly isn't likely until the end of 2013 at the earliest
