Best of Both Worlds (Remastered Version). I am an 80's guy and this is Van Halen. Amazing deal and 5 great songs would be well worth the deal - imagine the bargain knowing there are 36 songs total and how many are great and good. I haven't listened to the whole album yet as many songs are played, then the played again. There is no doubt many of us have Van Halen albums in our collection, but not to this extent. Absolutely fantastic and great for all ages - including, and especially the young people who may be born in the 90's or 00's that are not as familiar.

When Warner Records in 1996 released Van Halen Best Of – Volume I, I have to admit I was expecting that one day would come a Volume II. Instead, the market now gets a double CD with all fourteen favourites from Volume I and 19 others from the 1978 – 1995 er. Their 3 album from 1998, with Gary Cherone on vocals, is still ignored, even though several tracks on this album (. One I Want and Dirty Water Dog ) were just as interesting as most of the other tracks Van Halen recorded after 1986. It’s About Time is the first new song on The Best Of Both Worlds. Eddie Van Halen’s guitar playing is remarkably characteristic.

Best Of – Volume I is the first greatest hits album by American hard rock band Van Halen, released in 1996. The album does not contain any songs from the band's 1982 album Diver Down. Best Of – Volume I also features "Humans Being", the band's contribution to the Twister soundtrack. The two newly recorded songs, "Can't Get This Stuff No More" and "Me Wise Magic", at the end of the album are with original lead vocalist David Lee Roth.

Best Of Both Worlds An Intro that reminds me of AC/DC’s Highway to Hell, it is a good opener to a very good song. A chorus that is almost bellowed and a fairly soft verse. Traditional solo which further shames 99% of guitarists ever. That would be annoying if it weren’t for the fact that this is one damn good song. Runnin’ With The Devil I have never really liked this song when compared to songs such as Jump, Panama and Hot For Teacher, this song has really grown on me and I see it as a high quality song. Dance the Night Away A cowbell of all instruments opens this song which is a scorching dance tune. Really the only thing that could possibly make this song better is a solo.

September 16, 2004 4:00AM ET. The Best Of Both Worlds. This Is Where I Came In. From 1978 to 1985, Van Halen were a showcase for impish, groundbreaking guitarist Eddie Van Halen as well as for David Lee Roth, whose gifts included being a frontman nonpareil and driving Eddie bananas. The latter got Roth thrown out of the band, and in came Sammy Hagar, a technically better singer who also brought a boatload of pomposity and sentimentality to the band from 1986 onward.

"TAKING SIDES"VAN HALEN-THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS: A beloved hard rock institution distinguished by two distinctly different eras...one helmed by smarmy, soulful howler DAVID LEE ROTH, the other by his straight laced replacement SAMMY HAGAR...VAN HALEN finally gets a double dip anthology worthy of their legacy. Too bad each vocalist didn't commandeer their own platter, if only for continuity and comparison's sake. ROTH's lecherous, overly theatrical attack on YOU REALLY GOT ME, DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY and PANAMA doesn't mesh well with VAN HAGAR's more generic WHY CAN'T THIS BE LOVE, RIGHT NOW and POUNDCAKE (the band's brief, still-born GARY CHERRONE phase is ignored completely). Throughout the ruckus, EDDIE VAN HALEN's nimble-fingered fretboard histrionics, brother ALEX' thundering drums and bass player MICHAEL ANTHONY's high harmony vocals are the common denominator...there's no question that the DLR stuff is a lot more engaging, let alone more down right fun. In spite of three medicore live tracks and an equal number of "new" songs (all fronted by HAGAR), BEST OF BOTH WORLDS ponies up a helluva lot more classic bombast than 1995's spotty BEST OF VAN HALEN.RATING: FOUR HEAD BANGERS

The best Van Halen compilation. It has all their biggest hits. The three new songs have good guitar riffs, but care a little less about the lyrics.
