I read that in spinlock, process keeps on waiting for the lock continuously in a loop until it receives signal(lock) or release(lock) from other processes. This causes busy waiting and hence CPU cycles are wasted. My doubt is, if CPU is continuously.

SpinLock handles "busy wait" in scenarios where you have frequent contention but with reasonably short waiting times by avoiding context switches and improving performance.
The term busy-waiting tends to mean that you are willing to spin and wait for a change in a hardware register or a memory location. The term does not necessarily mean locking, but it does imply waiting in a tight loop, repeatedly probing for a change. So a spin-lock is implemented using busy-waiting. Busy-waiting is useful in any situation where a very low latency response is more important than wasting CPU cycles (like in some types of embedded programming).
Spinning can also be used to generate an arbitrary time delay, a technique that was necessary on systems that lacked a method of waiting a specific length of time.

Busy-waiting itself can be made much less wasteful by using a delay function (. This puts a thread to sleep for a specified time, during which the thread will waste no CPU time. If the loop is checking something simple then it will spend most of its time asleep and will waste very little CPU time. Since the thread remains active but is not performing a useful task, the use of such a lock is a kind of busy waiting. For more information, see HLT (x86 instruction). In low-level programming, busy-waits may actually be desirable.
We'll play anywhere in Raleigh and maybe Durham. Primarily rock music but we play other stuff. Busy Waiting playing Van Halen's "Ice Cream Man" at The Pour House. 1 of 6 songs, so 5 more yet to come.
