The Roches - We Three Kings mp3 download

Studio album by The Roches.

We Three Kings is the sixth studio album by the folk trio The Roches, released in 1990 on MCA Records. The album is a collection of Christmas carols. Break Forth O Beauteous Heavenly Light". For Unto Us A Child Is Born". Angels We Have Heard on High". Christmas Passing Through". Here We Come A-Caroling". The Little Drummer Boy". The Holly and the Ivy". Do You Hear What I Hear?".

Well, why not a Roches Christmas album? It's actually perfect, if you stop and think about it - there's always been something cute and childlike about their tone, and when they put their formidable vocal chops to work on tunes as potentially complex as "Angels We Have Heard on High" and "The Holly and the Ivy," the results can be as gorgeous as they are unique.

We Three Kings ‎(LP, Album). I was a fan of the first Roches album, the three sisters and their harmonies were unique and engaging. While I lost track of their music over the years, when I saw this recording I bought it without hesitation, and was very pleased. You may think you've heard Christmas and winter seasonal music so much you're sick of it, yet the Roches here have managed to make each tune sound fresh, using their sophisticated vocal arrangements to lessen the role of the instruments

We three kings of Orient are; Bearing gifts we traverse afar, Field and fountain, moor and mountain, Following yonder star. The Roches have been active as performers and recording artists since the mid-1970s, at various times performing as a trio and in pairs. In the late 1960s, eldest sister Margaret and middle sister Terre (pronounced "Terry") quit school to tour as a duo. Maggie wrote most of the songs, with Terre contributing to a few. The sisters got a break when Paul Simon brought them in as backup singers on his 1973 album There Goes Rhymin' Simon. They got his assistance (along with an appearance by The Oak Ridge Boys) on their only album as a duo, Seductive Reasoning (1975).
