Night Ranger is an American rock band from San Francisco formed in 1979 that gained popularity during the 1980s with a series of albums and singles. The band's first five albums sold more than 10 million copies worldwide and have sold 17 million albums total. The quintet is best known for the power ballad "Sister Christian", which peaked at No. 5 in June 1984.

Night Ranger themselves did nearly as much damage in this time, splitting into two factions and legally wrangling over use of the band’s name. Then, after the usual re-recordings, live albums, and unplugged efforts, they released 2007’s Hole in the Sun, a misguided modern album that couldn’t even get a release date in America - where you still couldn’t rock, apparently - until a year later

Night Ranger has been through a lot of changes over the years most notably their line up and change in sound during the early 2000s. I've been a fan since the start, love the classics, listen to the music almost daily. I collectively listened to Seven through Neverland for the first time in one week a couple of years ago. Seeing the progression of the band, I loved how they were able to change with the times. The thing about Night Ranger is that it is melodic and not overly dark, like a lot of music today. Really, it's that pitiful, but the band have renewed my faith with this new cracker of an album. Somewhere In California is the classic Night Ranger us fans know and love in all their glory, and there's a few new instant classics in this set worthy of the next greatest hits collection. If you're thinking about it, avoid everything after Man In Motion and go straight to this one. You won't be disappointed.
