Asphalt Jungle is a duo comprised of smooth jazz guitarist Brian Tarquin and producer/drum programmer Chris Ingram. You've heard their work as a duo on MTV, but not in videos - they've provided background music for shows like Road Rules and Making the Band. Their first album is a nice fusion of big beat, drum'n'bass, and metal guitar that is at its most interesting the less it showcases the guitar. The more rockish and guitar-heavy the music gets, the more it starts sounding like TV theme music, which shouldn't come as a big surprise.

Asphalt Jungle is the combined effort of Brian Tarquin and Chris Ingram, who have been paying the rent producing tracks for MTVs Road Rules, whose theme song "Witchcraft appears on the album. Electro Ave blends guitar riffs and big beat grooves into a rock electronica escapade, which admittedly I am no great fan of, as its hard to rock out on dance tunes without it turning into a theme for a bad action TV show, or worse yet, a beer commercial. By John Heidt. 33. I know this kind of music raises the hackles of some guitarists. It’s a rock/electronica mix that sounds a little different. Jeff Beck drew the ire of lots of players doing this stuff. Well, here guitarist Brian Tarquin and producer/programmer Chris Ingram have put together a package that lets guitarists smile and still gets a thumbs-up from electronica fans.
