The Rutles - Rehearsal mp3 download
The Rutles was a compilation album released by Warner Bros. The album included popular Rutle tracks, such as Hold My Hand, Number One, and Cheese and Onions.
Archaeology is the second album by parody band The Rutles. Like their previous release, the album contains pastiches of Beatles songs. Three of the four musicians who had created the soundtrack for the 1978 film – Neil Innes, John Halsey, and Ricky Fataar – reunited in 1996 and recorded a second album, Archaeology, an affectionate send-up of The Beatles Anthology albums (although its original cover design rather parodied that of The Beatles' singles compilation Past Masters: Volume One).
At any rate, these are rawer, but not sloppy, versions of most of the songs that ended up on the first Rutles album. No personnel is listed, unfortunately, but judging from the pretty tight and professional sound, it's probably the lineup that played on the Rutles' recordings: Neil Innes, Ricky Fataar, John Halsey, and possibly Ollie Halsall on guitar and vocals. Fidelity is a bit below usual release standards, but still pretty good. Of course it's really only for hard-bitten fans, since the arrangements aren't too different from what ended up on the Rutles' records.
A soundtrack album entitled The Rutles containing 14 tongue-in-cheek pastiches of Beatles songs was also released. Much of the material on these releases comes from 1978 rehearsal tapes, or from the Rutland Weekend Television soundtrack LP, as well as a lot of rare Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and Neil Innes solo material. Also of note: "Cheese & Onions"-the version heard on Saturday Night Live-made its way onto several Beatles bootleg albums, as an unreleased John Lennon demo.

The primary creative force of the Rutles music was Neil Innes, the sole composer and arranger of the songs. Innes had been the 'seventh' member of Monty Python, as well as one of the main artists behind the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band in the late 1960s, who had been featured in the real Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour movie performing "Death Cab For Cutie".

The Rutles is a soundtrack album to the 1978 telemovie All You Need Is Cash. The album contains 14 of the tongue-in-cheek pastiches of Beatles songs that were featured in the film. The primary creative force of the Rutles' music was Neil Innes, the sole composer and arranger of the songs. Innes had been the "seventh" member of Monty Python, as well as one of the main artists behind the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band in the late 1960s, who had been featured in the real Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour film performing "Death Cab for Cutie". Eric Idle, who devised the Rutles concept and co-wrote the film, did not play or sing on any of the recordings. He lip-synced "Dirk" vocals that were in fact sung by Halsall. Innes says that Idle, who had recently had an appendectomy, offered to help but was encouraged to recuperate.
