The Yardbirds are an English rock band, formed in London in 1963. The band's core lineup featured vocalist and harmonica player Keith Relf, drummer Jim McCarty, rhythm guitarist/bassist Chris Dreja and bassist/producer Paul Samwell-Smith
Included on Greatest Hits are all six of their singles up to 1967, plus three B-sides and a live track. The Hungarian tenor, actor, and rock singer specifically updated the Yardbirds’ version here on his 1989 album Ös-Metal. Likeabl. nd at times humorous.
The Yardbirds Greatest Hits is the first compilation album of songs recorded by the Yardbirds. It was released in the United States in March 1967 by Epic Records and included all six of the Yardbirds' American A-side singles up to that time, plus three B-sides and the live "Smokestack Lightning" from Having a Rave Up and Five Live Yardbirds. The album was the group's highest charting LP record in the US, peaking at number 28 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
The Yardbirds entered 1967 in a state of flux - behind them, mostly by more than a year, lay a brace of hit singles had carried them to an international audience, this despite lineup changes that helped bring about some dizzying shifts in their sound, pushing them from blues-based rock toward pop/rock and progressive pop, and into psychedelia, with an. overlay of formative heavy metal in some of the latter material.

Greatest Hits, Vol. 1: 1964-1966 melsonwheels The songs are nicely arranged, but it's hard to tell whether Jeff Beck is playing or Eric Clapton is playing.
