Bloodrock was an American rock band based in Fort Worth, Texas that had considerable success in the 1970s. The band was one of the earliest of a number of noteworthy bands to emerge from the Fort Worth club and music scene during the early to mid-1970s. Bloodrock initially formed in Fort Worth in 1963, under the name The Naturals

Format: 2 Vinyl, LP, Album.

Redirected from Bloodrock Live (album)). While the album was marketed as being a live performance, two of the album's songs ("You Gotta Roll" and "Cheater") were actually studio recordings with dubbed applause. Bloodrock Primary Artist. Rick Cobb Composer, Drums, Percussion. Ed Grundy Bass, Composer, Vocals. Kenneth Hamann Engineer. Stephen Hill Composer, Keyboards, Vocals. John Hoernle Art Direction.

Since Bloodrock's studio albums often sounded leaden, as if they were a live jam band that couldn't figure out how to translate their sound to the studio, it wouldn't be an unnatural supposition that if their first live effort, appropriately titled Bloodrock "Live," would be more dynamic and exciting than the average Bloodrock album. Ironically, it's worse. Given the opportunity to lay back and jam, the group seizes the day, turning in meandering, indulgent performances that are utterly plain and characterless.

This is a valuable and enjoyable document of the mighty Bloodrock at their peak. Pleasurable from beginning to end, and best played LOUD.
Ah Stephen Thomas Erlewine, you're a bit jaded I fear... Bloodrock was the very first band I saw live, April of 1971 in Flint, MI, a few days before this LP was recorded in Chicago... my 15 year old self was blown away... since those heady days my knowledge of music and concert experience has expanded, but I still am very entertained by this release...
