Antonín Dvořák's Requiem in B♭ minor, Op. 89, B. 165, is a funeral Mass scored for soloists, choir and orchestra. It was composed in 1890 and performed for the first time on 9 October 1891, in Birmingham, England, with the composer conducting. Introitus: Requiem aeternam. Graduale: Requiem aeternam. Sequentia: Dies irae. Recordare, Jesu pie. Andante. Confutatis maledictis.
The Collegium Vocale Gent, the Royal Flemish Philharmonic and Philippe Herreweghe join forces once again for a monument of the sacred choral repertoire: Antonín Dvoráks Requiem, Op. 89. This work, dating from 1890, is one of those that marked a new phase in the composers musical creation, in which he recognized himself as much a poet as well as a musician. In addition, this reveals the veritable nature of a composer without constraint, probably being neither a commission nor an occasional work.

Together with the Collegium Vocale, founded in 1970 by Philippe Herreweghe himself, and superb soloists they perform Dvorak’s Requiem. A modern and stylistically flexible symphony orchestra, the Royal Flemish Philharmonic demonstrates an artistic flair which allows for a variety of styles and occupies a unique position in Flanders.
Philippe, Knight Herreweghe (born 2 May 1947, Ghent) is a Belgian conductor. Herreweghe received his first piano lessons from his mother. In his school years at the University of Ghent, Herreweghe combined studies in medical science and psychiatry with a musical education at the Ghent Conservatory, where Marcel Gazelle, Yehudi Menuhin's accompanist, was his piano teacher. In the same period, he began conducting and in 1969 he founded the Collegium Vocale Gent with a group of fellow students.
