Background vocals by Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard Ripped from the album "More Hits by The Supremes" Released on February 8, 1965 Enjoy! Категория. Stop! In the Name of Love.

More Hits by The Supremes is the sixth studio album by Motown singing group The Supremes, released in 1965. The album includes two number-one hits: "Stop! In the Name of Love" and "Back in My Arms Again", as well as the Top 20 single "Nothing but Heartaches". The album opens up with the b-side "Ask Any Girl" from their Where Did Our Love Go album, which ironically ended side 2 of their previous album of new material. It was once planned for single release with this new mix.

Diana Ross & the Supremes: Greatest Hits (also released as The Supremes: Greatest Hits) is a two-LP collection of singles and b-sides recorded by The Supremes, released by Motown in August 1967 (see 1967 in music).

Album: More Hits by The Supremes (1965). Charted: 7 1. Get the Sheet Music License This Song. He was right: "Stop! In the Name of Love" became a huge hit, and when it did, the girl came back to him. In this song, Diana Ross confronts her man, telling him she knows he's been cheating. Instead of threatening violence, she appeals to his morality, reminding him how well she's been treating him and asking him to stop.

In fact, Motown itself liked the cover so much it repeated it for the album "The Marvelettes. Actually, this isn't an album, but singles and recordings that might have become singles. The exception is three songs written and recorded expressly for the album, all of them recorded on the same afternoon. Mary Wilson clearly remembers Florence Ballard not being at the session and herself recording background vocals twice. Even when singing of heartbreak, a common theme here, The Supremes are totally in control, as they are in their mega-hit "Stop! In the Name of Love", one of the most played songs of that year. You don't have to worry about the girl in that song, she knows what's going on and isn't afraid to tell it like it is. And he ended up back in her arms again after all.

The Supremes' first Motown recordings were much more girl group-oriented than their later hits. Additionally, not all of them featured Diana Ross on lead vocals; Flo Ballard, considered to have as good or better a voice, also sang lead. Through a lengthy series of flops, Berry Gordy remained confident that the group would eventually prove to be one of Motown's biggest. By the time they finally did get their first Top 40 hit, "When the Lovelight Starts Shining Through His Eyes," in late 1963, Ross had taken over the lead singing for good. Written by nd, it established the prototype for their run of five consecutive number-one hits in 1964-1965 (also including "Baby Love," "Stop! In the Name of Love," "Come See About Me," and "Back in My Arms Again").

Ross and the Supremes, together and separately, continued to score afterwards, but this was their peak.
