Features Song Lyrics for 36 Crazyfists's Lanterns album.

36 Crazyfists is a metalcore band formed in Anchorage, Alaska, and later based in Portland, Oregon. The band's name comes from the Jackie Chan film Jackie Chan and the 36 Crazy Fists. They have released eight studio albums. 36 Crazyfists formed in 1994 in Anchorage, Alaska. The original members were vocalist Brock Lindow, guitarists Steve Holt and Ryan Brownell, bassist JD Stuart, and drummer Thomas Noonan. Holt is from Kenai, and Lindow spent much of his childhood there

For Alaska veterans 36 Crazyfists, their previous album Time and Trauma was a rebirth of sorts. They had a couple of lineup changes and signed with a new label. The success of the record, their highest charting release to-date, was a definite uptick, but life got in the way, leading to a down period. Lanterns was written during what frontman Brock Lindow calls the lowest point in his life. It was extreme depression, Lindow reveals. I got divorced after 13 years.

Musically 36 Crazyfists are able to transition between their light and shade of chaos, heavy, groove, ballads and rock influencing sounds flawlessly and still convey the full array of emotions from all genres. No track seems out of place or to lack in areas as ‘Lanterns’ provides the bands powerful sounds, signature vocals and poetic lyrics which carry the raw passion and feelings that is hard to be mistaken by any 36 Crazyfists fan in songs such as ‘Better to Burn‘. Lanterns is sure to deliver some strong additions to the 36 Crazyfists live set. This album is honestly hard to speak poorly of, as it does not carry any significant criticisms for anyone who knows the band’s work and will likely draw the band many new fans in the process.

36 Crazyfists have announced that they’ll release their new album Lanterns later this year. The follow-up to 2014’s Time And Trauma will arrive on September 29 via Spinefarm Records – their second record with the label. To mark the announcement, vocalist Brock Lindow, guitarist Steve Holt, bassist Mick Whitney and drummer Kyle Baltus have released the first material from the album in the shape of Death Eater.

Lanterns, 36 Crazyfists’ latest album, proves that the band will never the Post-Hardcore niche they’ve been carving since the new millennium. The problems are: not only the songs are becoming increasingly repetitive, even by the band’s standards (including an acoustic interlude halfway through the album), but Brock Lindow’s voice is becoming increasingly hoarse and cigarette-strained (again, see the acoustic interlude or his tendency to imitate James Heltfield’s pronunciation). And so, 36 Crazyfists’ career continues with the band still having not hit their mark.
