At the beginning of the group's run, the Hollies' hits were either covers or songs supplied by Brill Building pros. B-sides were merely a vehicle for the band members to hone their own songwriting skills. Said skills developed rather quickly, of course. The rest of the album, which should have been arranged chronologically, is best listened to as an alternative aural history of Britpop between 1963 and 1971.

The Hollies are a British rock group best known for their pioneering and distinctive three-part vocal harmony style.
